The House
Our vineyard is as rich in history as it is in grapes, and we’re lucky to be able to preserve an important part of the Santa Maria Valley’s past. Riverbench Vineyards was inhabited by some of the oldest families in the area. Originally, cows roamed the property in the days when dairies dramatically outnumbered wineries, and this sturdy California ranch home’s design was ahead of its time. Grapes were even then a part of the lifestyle here, though, as one family tended their own grape arbor and even made their own house wine.
Today, the house has been completely restored in a craftsman style to preserve the integrity of the architecture and its history. Though we’ve added some modern touches, the colors, cabinetry, and moldings evoke a sense that this house has many stories. Additionally, though the dairy may have disappeared, another part of local history remains in the bottle. We invite you to enjoy a piece of Santa Barbara County history, both architectural and epicurean.
